  Aikido

Some people go to the gym, others go jogging out in the country. Me, I get thrown around like a rag doll 2 hours a day.

Eleven years ago I began to subject myself to martial art training to live out my childhood fantasy of becoming a MARTIAL ARTS HERO. Eleven years later I'm still trying to achieve that dream. All I have to show for it is a black belt (it holds my pants up and my jacket in place. But instead of being white, its now black.), bad knees (Japanese martial arts are cruel that way), and bad ankles (again, Japanese martial arts).

I guess I know how to defend myself but you have to attack me like this (me doing a robotic chopping motion with my hand at your head).

If you are sick like me and are interested in Aikido, check these sites out:

Because my body is telling me I won't be doing aikido forever, I decided to take up learning a musical instrument or two. They should really call it audio torture devices because until you learn how to play you are just killing people slowly.

My instruments of choice are the classical guitar and the Irish flute. The guitar has a gentle sound that even if played poorly (like by me) it doesn't hurt the senses. The flute on the other hand can tear the mind into tiny little pieces if a note is played too harshly. I especially mean the pennywhistle which should never be handed to children without teaching them how to use it (you would never give a child a loaded gun and not teach him/her gun safety, would you?).

Eventually, I should be able to play these instruments with some skill. But until then, I recommend earplugs when visiting.
